The Birth of Programming on StockTwits

A couple of months ago, Quint Tatro @tickerville began showing up on StockTwits on Saturday mornings and peppered the feed with some great market commentary focused on technical analysis.

The next week he showed up again and by the time he’d gotten an hour in he had sparked about a dozen conversations and was fielding questions left and right.

He and I had a chance to talk that week and had mutually agreed that there was something really cool happening, that he would make it a regular gig and that we would promote it to let the stocktweeps know about Saturday morning StockTwits brunch.

Since then, StockTwits brunch has become increasingly popular among hardcore market junkies who can never get enough as well as novices who are getting color on charts of the indices and specific stocks from a professional.

The bottom line is that we are getting some great analysis and the sharing of excellent trading ideas and not just from @tickerville but from other seasoned guys who show up such as @traderalamo, @Iron100 and @agwarner.

We view this as the birth of programming on StockTwits, a new medium, and it is very exciting. We hope it brings oodles of uncommon value.

With that said, we decided to press a winner and recruited @GegorMacdonald to moderate another program on Sunday nights called MacroTwits which will focus on the global macro.

Gregor is an analyst and trader and anyone who follows him on Twitter or reads Gregor.us Blog knows that he is ridiculously smart and well versed in a variety of topics from energy to FX to economic history…

As well, it appears that some of the best big picture guys we’ve yet seen on twitter will be popping in such as @nelderini and @macromeister.

We welcome feedback, ideas, criticism and questions in the comments or @StockTwits regarding programming on StockTwits.
